Folly Farmstead
On Folly Farmstead, we raise sheep for wool and meat. We sell pasture-raised, grass-fed lamb by the half or whole share. We follow regenerative agriculture principles, which means that we work to protect and regenerate our land for future generations of healthy people, plants, animals, and environment. Examples of regenerative practices on our farm include rotational grazing and no-till perennial pastures. We also work on regenerative projects such as pollinator habitat restoration along our seasonal waterways and building our small native oak savanna. For every acre of our property that we farm, we have dedicated about two acres to ongoing native habitat preservation and restoration.
We also follow strict animal welfare guidelines and will be seeking animal welfare certification in future. This means helping our animals to follow their natural instincts, such as always providing access to fresh pasture, ensuring sufficient shelter for all weather, and following humane practices for handling that reduce fear and stress as much as possible. All of our animals are processed on-site, meaning they do not go through the stress of transport or separation from their flock.
