Willow-Witt Ranch

Willow-Witt Ranch

We have a small farm on a large property. We raise Alpine goats for milk (raw milk herdshare,) backpacking, and meat. We raise laying hens for eggs, and for stewing hens, and one batch (<100) of broiler chickens and process them on farm for sale on farm. All animals are raised on pasture (seasonally for goats as we are at 5000′, and have deep snow in winter/spring) and all animals, vegetables, and forage are certified organic by Oregon Tilth. In addition to organic pastures, we also feed certified organic alfalfa and grass hay to goats, and certified organic grains to chickens and goats. We raised certified organic Berkshire pigs until November, 2016. We have Farm Stays year-round in 2 houses and summer-only in a Campground with a full community Cookhouse and well-outfitted Bathhouse. Our campground includes 4 luxuriously-furnished Wall Tents and campsites for up to 60 guests. We lead tours related to natural and human history of this land, pasture-raised animals, and forest and wetland restoration. We have started a non-profit ‘The Crest at Willow-Witt’ to further education, conservation, and restoration.

Production Practices

Rotational grazing, holistic animal and pasture management, certified organic native plant forages, hays, and grains. Certified organic vegetable production.

Grazing, Pasture and Nutrient Management Practices

We use rotational grazing for chickens, and rotational browsing and grazing for goats.

Our pastures are all certified organic native plants with added chips each year to any paths. We organically compost all manure and bedding, which is covered during all wet times.

We do not use any chemicals in pest management. We use Fly predators, fly and yellowjacket jars, fly strips. We use cats for rodents. We stress insectary and pollinator plants, and have abundant birds (including owls) to assist in rodent control.

Environmental Conservation

Wetland restoration of 76 acres. Wildlife fencing for those acres (let wildlife in.) Forest restoration of ~200 acres.
